What makes a District of Columbia neighborhood sustainable? Learn more at the Green Living Expo DC, a free, community-organized event Saturday, September 7th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Just steps away from the Van Ness metro stop, the Expo will be held on the University of D.C.’s Dennard Plaza, where over 40 exhibitors, workshops and eco-tours will offer feature information on bike lanes, home energy-saving resources and government grants, green roofs, urban forests and more. Attendees will be able to consult with environmental experts while enjoying demonstrations, live music and local food. Children’s activities will also be available!

The Green Living Expo DC grew out of the D.C. Office of Planning’s Neighborhood Sustainability Indicators Project (NSIP), a 2009 pilot program that helped shape Mayor Vincent Gray’s citywide Sustainable DC initiative. Expo community sponsors include the Forest Hills Neighborhood Alliance, ANC 3F, D.C. Office of Planning, and UDC’s College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES).

We are also seeking volunteers! For more information, please visit http://greenlivingexpodc2013.eventbrite.com/ or contact Leslie Malone at leslie.malone@udc.edu.
