11am – The Quilting Women of Gee’s Bend is new. Learn about the celebrated quilts made by a community of African American women in rural Alabama. Born out of necessity and now recognized as an artform, the quilting practice has been passed down from mothers to daughters for generations.

8:30pm - Aretha with Sheléa and the Pacific Symphony is new from PBS. Celebrate the music of Aretha Franklin with this fun concert featuring vocal powerhouse Shelea. The Grammy nominee performs the Queen of Soul's greatest hits and Emmy-winning Music Director Rickey Minor conducts the Pacific Symphony.

10pm – New from APT Premium Service is Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision. Rising from the rubble of a bankrupt Greenwich Village nightclub, it became a state-of-the-art recording facility inspired by Jimi Hendrix’s vision — the first artist-owned commercial recording studio. The program includes track breakdowns of Hendrix classics such as "Freedom," "Angel," and "Dolly Dagger," plus interviews with original Electric Lady staff members and musical collaborators.

9pm – New from PBS is Commodores Live. Join the legendary band for their greatest hits, including chart-toppers "Nightshift," "Lady (You Bring Me Up)," "Sail On," "Easy," "Too Hot Ta Trot," "Three Times a Lady," "Brick House" and more.

4pm - America’s Home Cooking: Around the World in 80 Recipes is new. We’re joined in the kitchen by special guests who take us on a journey around the globe through delicious food and charming stories.

4pm - Cooking with Legends: Lidia Bastianich & Jacques Pépin is also new. Join longtime friends and chefs for mouth-watering recipes and personal family stories.

8pm – New from PBS is Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band – No Nukes. Witness the legendary band on the cusp of superstardom in the "No Nukes" concerts of 1979, with recovered and restored footage of their epic performance.

8pm – Inspired Lives. Tony Fama interviews Shark Tank investor Daymond John and music legend Dionne

Warwick about their commitment to changing society for the better, by leveraging their success to benefit people and communities in need.

9pm - BusinessMakers showcases the history and contributions of some of the nation's most successful African American leaders, both entrepreneurs and those in Corporate America while providing insight into the economic, political, and social impact of these iconic business leaders and their lives.

8pm – We debut Caregiving. Follow a diverse group of caregivers of all ages, on their personal journeys, dealing with family dynamics, mental health, work productivity, and long-term planning.



Sun. 8/24

11am – The Sunday Special continues our look at caregiving. We begin and end with the new 2-hour documentary and have several programs on the topic all afternoon.


8pm – Venus & Serena, the Game Changers. It showcases the remarkable journeys of Venus and Serena Williams, two of the greatest athletes in the history of tennis. Growing up in Compton, California, they shattered the sport's "country club" stereotype, becoming the top-ranked players in the world. The film explores the sisters' careers while highlighting their resilience against discrimination, bigotry, and sexism and their contributions to tennis, fashion, and women's rights.


9pm – Major Taylor: Champion of The Race. It retraces the life and legacy of an American civil rights pioneer who set more than 20 world records in speed cycling during the heart of Jim Crow America.


10pm – Never Drop the Ball explores the extraordinary journey Black baseball players went through during six decades of exclusion from Major League Baseball before Jackie Robinson's success in 1947.


Mon. 8/25

4pm – Our afternoon break has the final two episodes of No Passport Required. Then we hit the road on Tuesday and Wednesday with The Great Muslim American Road Trip. The rest of the week has 4 one-hour travel specials.

7pm - Venus & Serena, the Game Changers


8pm - Cajundome City begins a night of Louisiana-themed programs. The film shows how a mega-shelter came together and was operated in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, in 2005. Some 18,500 people, mostly from New Orleans, took shelter in the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana, many of them residing here for nearly two months.


9pm - Irma Thomas - The Soul Queen of New Orleans profiles the singer.


Hidden Louisiana

10pm – Hidden Louisiana shows us there’s more to the Bayou State than Bourbon Street.


Thurs. 8/28

8pm – We bring back the 2-part series Michael Palin in North Korea. With unprecedented access, Michael Palin embarks on a remarkable journey inside an ultra-secretive country that has been cut off from the outside world for 70 years.


9pm - POV 'Emergent City' is new. Residents of Sunset Park, Brooklyn face rising rents, a legacy of environmental racism and the loss of the industrial jobs that once sustained their community. When a global developer purchases a massive industrial complex on the waterfront and lays plans for an "innovation district," a battle erupts over the future of the neighborhood and of New York City itself.

8pm - Islam's Greatest Stories of Love is new from PBS. Devastated by her father's sudden death, a young woman seeks solace in five timeless stories of love and loss from the Islamic tradition. Woven through them is Ariella's own powerful journey to rediscover faith, hope, and the courage to love again.
