Summer of Adventure is our annual community engagement series bringing families (kids ages 2-8 years old) together through fun and educational experiences rooted in PBS KIDS content. This year’s theme is Retro PBS KIDS. It will blend iconic series with exciting new faces sparking cross-generational conversations and creating family memories. From hands-on activities to inspiring stories, this season celebrates curiosity, creativity and connections.

Be My Neighbor Day.

Meet and celebrate community helpers like a good neighbor, with special guests including a police officer, pharmacist, chef, artist, and more.

WEEK 5 - August 4: 
Literacy

Jump into storytelling fun with Super Why! as kids create their own story puppets and bring tales to life with colorful sidewalk chalk.

WEEK 4 - July 21: 
Computational thinking

Put problem-solving skills to the test with Work It Out Wombats, as families think, tinker, and figure things out together.

WEEK 3 - July 7: 
Let’s get LIT

Celebrate the joy of reading with a Reading Rainbow Read-a-Thon, guest readers from the Howard University Women’s Basketball Team and PBS KIDS giveaways to inspire young book lovers.

WEEK 2 - June 23: 
Nature

Discover the wonders of wildlife with Wild Kratts, as families explore amazing animals and learn how to protect the natural world.

WEEK 1 - June 9:
STEAM

Spark curiosity with a hands-on STEAM adventure featuring Lyla in the Loop, where families can explore, build, and imagine together.
