Community Celebration: WHUT Honors Culture, Identity and Legacy This June

At WHUT, June is more than just the start of summer. It is a vibrant celebration of culture, identity and legacy. As we honor Caribbean American Heritage Month, Pride Month and Black Music Month, we recognize the powerful stories, voices and contributions that have shaped our communities and continue to inspire generations. Through special programming, community spotlights and curated content, WHUT proudly uplifts the richness and diversity that define these observances.

Celebrating Caribbean Roots, Pride and Black Musical Genius

Caribbean American Heritage Month gives us the opportunity to spotlight the deep cultural influence of Caribbean communities in the United States, from literature and politics to cuisine and music. Pride Month is a time to celebrate the resilience and brilliance of the LGBTQ+ community, honoring the ongoing fight for equality and the beauty of living authentically. Black Music Month allows us to reflect on the global impact of Black artists across genres, from jazz and gospel to hip hop, RnB and more, and how their creativity continues to shape the soundtrack of our lives.

WHUT’s Ongoing Commitment to Representation and Storytelling

As a public media station rooted in service and storytelling, WHUT is committed to amplifying voices that reflect the full spectrum of our audience. Throughout June, we will feature documentaries, interviews, performances and educational content that highlight the intersections of identity, culture and history. Whether it is a deep dive into Caribbean heritage, a celebration of queer Black artists or a tribute to musical legends, WHUT invites viewers to engage, learn and celebrate with us.
