FamFest 2026: A Homecoming Celebration for the Whole Family

The fourth annual FamFest: Empowering Families Mind, Body, and Soul was another unforgettable success for the WHUT family! Our signature kids and family festival brought together the DC, PBS, and Howard communities for a day filled with learning, laughter, music, and Homecoming spirit.

From start to finish, the main stage was packed with excitement. The Howard University Cheerleaders kicked off the celebration with an energetic performance that had families clapping, cheering, and joining in on the fun. They set the tone for a day full of school pride and community connection.

Keeping the momentum going, West2South from the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts showcased their incredible talent with a dynamic performance that highlighted the creativity, artistry, and excellence of Howard University's student performers.

The energy only continued to build when the Howard University Showtime Marching Band and the Flashy Flags took the stage. Their electrifying performance brought the crowd to its feet and filled The Valley with the unmistakable sound and spirit of Howard Homecoming. Guests also had the chance to meet members of the Howard University Royal Court and the Women's Basketball Team, who stopped by for photos, autographs, and memorable meet-and-greet moments.

A special highlight of the day was welcoming Genie Deez, co-creator of the new PBS KIDS series Phoebe & Jay. Genie treated FamFest guests to a surprise remix of the show's popular song, “The Boogie Boo Bump,” created especially for the festival. Our youngest attendees, the Baby Bisons, joined Genie, Phoebe, and Jay for an unforgettable dance party filled with smiles, movement, and music.

To close out an incredible day, Pock3t Band brought the unmistakable sound of Go-Go to The Valley. Their high-energy performance had families dancing, singing along, and celebrating together, providing the perfect finale to a fantastic festival.

Beyond the performances, FamFest created opportunities for families to connect, learn, and explore through engaging activities, community resources, and interactive experiences. Seeing families laugh, play, and make memories together is what FamFest is all about, and this year's event was a beautiful reminder of the power of community.

Thank you to our partners, volunteers, performers, vendors, and the thousands of families who joined us. We can't wait to do it all again next year!
