On Tuesday, August 5, the District of Columbia paid tribute to an organization that has shaped generations of young women leaders with the unveiling of a street named in honor of Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital.
The ceremony marked more than just a symbolic gesture. It was a celebration of legacy, service, and the enduring impact Girl Scouts have had on communities across the DMV. As the largest Girl Scout council in the country, Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital serves over 60,000 members, fostering leadership, courage, confidence, and character in girls of all backgrounds.
This historic moment recognized decades of local and national influence. From community service and environmental stewardship to STEM education and entrepreneurship, Girl Scouts have long stood at the intersection of tradition and transformation.
The newly unveiled street name stands as a permanent reminder of their contributions. These contributions not only shape DC, but the nation.
