Home for the Holidays: PBS KIDS Shows, Crafts, and Recipes to Try Together

PBS KIDS Home for the Holidays - Watch Now!

The holidays are always a time for making memories with family, but school being out of session can leave you scrambling to find a cure for boredom. Some of the best memories are made right at home, however, so we’ve created an exciting list of PBS KIDS shows, crafts, and even some treats that you and your family can enjoy together to escape winter weariness. Here are some fun activities that can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home, and maybe even help decorate it, too.

PBS KIDS Shows You Can’t Miss This Winter

Make sure you’re on the lookout for new episodes of Sesame Street and a special holiday Weather Hunters episode, Christmas in Africa, and catch your favorite PBS KIDS shows all winter long.

  • Sesame Street is now streaming on PBS KIDS! This holiday season, catch up with Elmo, Bert, Big Bird and more.

Crafts and Coloring

This holiday season, crafts are the perfect way to make memories at home. Enjoy these educational, hands-on activities, inspired by some of your favorite PBS KIDS shows.

  • Help your child understand the days of the week and months of the year with these fun calendar activities. Dress up an old calendar or make a new one from scratch. Either way, you and your child can create something that serves a purpose all year long.

  • Give your child the chance to create something that they can give to someone else. Pass on the holiday spirit with this Sesame Street Kwanzaa card. It’s perfect to display in the home or to share with a loved one.

  • Help your child learn about repeating patterns while making an ornament that is sure to add a nice touch to any tree.

  • Teach your child about the seven principles of Kwanzaa with this easy DIY kinara. Easily made with carboard tubes, tissue paper, and paint, this kinara is the perfect craft to make as a family while learning about holiday traditions

Try these fun, holiday-themed coloring pages as well!

Recipes

For quality time spent in the kitchen, here’s two recipes, inspired by Alma’s Way, for you and your loved ones to try.

We hope this list gives you some fun ideas and opportunities to make new memories with your family during this holiday season. Don’t forget to tune into WHUT, so you don’t miss any of your favorite shows!
